We are looking for a highly commercially focused Financial Controller to be the key financial person for two of our businesses based in the West Midlands.  Both businesses are growing with significant potential and so the finance role is key to ensuring the future success of both businesses.


Overview of the role:

Reporting to our Financial Director for the group, the main objectives are:

To make a significant contribution to the growth and success of both businesses by providing accounting and financial input to the executive decision making process

Having a dotted line responsibility for the account team(s), direct the relevant business internal accounts team on the day-to-day financial and bookkeeping activities that record the transactions of the company, as well as ledgers including Debtors and Creditors

To prepare monthly management accounts, annual financial statements and annual budgets (with forecasts as appropriate). This includes the monitoring of the performance of each revenue / cost heading and each department in line with the set budgets

To implement and maintain the financial controls and systems within the relevant business, identifying and recommending potential operational efficiencies to working practices and procedures

Overseeing all tax and regulatory compliance issues for the relevant businesses in their entirety

SALARY PACKAGE: Circa £40,000 plus benefits

EXPERIENCE: 5+ years as a management accountant working in a commercial environment is desirable.  Candidate must be CIMA qualified

  • Experience of robust budgeting, forecasting and month end close and reporting processes
  • Experience of variance analysis and putting controls and processes in place to identify and prevent future variance
  • Are highly commercially focused, bright, determined and willing to get involved in the business
  • Must have experience of monitoring project cost and challenge people and holding them to account for overspends
