Tensile testing involves subjecting a material sample to controlled tension load or force until failure (i.e. putting the material sample under tension). This helps discover the tensile strength of a material.
This is really useful as many customers want to know exactly how a material will perform in use. The findings of the test help verify the exact specification for the customer.
Tensile testing proves that relevant quality standards have been met, which gives quality assurance. It also limits potential product failures in the future. By determining the exact tensile strength the material can tolerate, failures are less likely to happen.
