Copper Nickel Alloys
We offer a range of UKAS accredited, analytical testing services on Copper Nickel Alloys to our inhouse procedure, as required by Naval Engineering Standards (NES) and UK Defence Standards (DEF Stans).
Copper Nickel alloys, or Cupronickels are alloys with a high copper and nickel content. These types of alloys are highly resistant to corrosive environments such as salt water or oxide-rich conditions, making it an advantageous metal for marine, oil and gas industries. Because of its anti-corrosive characteristics, this material is often used for piping and marine applications.
The physical properties of Copper Nickel alloys also provide resistance to macrofouling, where unwanted materials and organisms such as algae and barnacles would normally attach to marine structures, ships and boats. With a layer of anti-fouling paint or coating, the alloy is given additional protection from these organisms and growths.
