The Zwick Roell International testXpo for Materials Testing provides us with a great opportunity to gain insight into new technologies for materials testing, as well as networking opportunities with other companies and industries involved in metallurgical and mechanical testing. Rotech is involved in mechanical testing, and it was great to see innovations and new machines and equipment for Hardness Testing, including demonstrations and product overviews during the trip.
Latest Trends in Materials Testing
Understanding the latest trends and challenges for testing metals and materials, means that we can identify new equipment and accessories for our own laboratories allowing us to carry out the very latest testing requirements for our customers.
Developments in new materials, such as composites and rubber, 3D printing and additive layer manufacturing, means that the materials testing industry needs to find new ways to support customers with innovative technologies and capabilities, including robotic or automated testing applications.
New Test Machines and Projects
Dave was invited to see the manufacturing and production process of Zwick’s testing machines during a tour of the factory. There were demonstrations on how to use the machines for materials testing, and we got to take a look at machines that are currently under research and development projects.
In addition, we attended several lectures, presentations, and discussions throughout the week. Dave enjoyed the seminar discussing uncertainty of measurement, the accuracy of test results and test equipment. It was a great insight into accurate calibration techniques. The demonstrations available also showed Dave the different types of modern equipment available to enhance customer experiences.
When asked about the trip, Dave tells us, “It was a jam-packed couple of days and very educational, with great networking opportunities to meet new customers and suppliers. Zwick were also very hospitable, and I am grateful to have been invited to the event.”
