Rotech End of Year Review: A Message from John Cross, General Manager
We’re sharing our thoughts on 2022 and what we’re looking forward to next year
As we reach the end of 2022, we are looking back on a remarkable year. Much has happened on a global and national scale; we have seen turbulent times with the energy crisis, and the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has seen an unstable market for steel resources and raw materials.
John Cross, General Manager says, “As we emerged from the pandemic, the wheels of industry began to move again. The increase in oil output across the world saw the return of maintenance schedules at petrochemical facilities, which has seen a drive in piping, fitting, and fastener production.
"However, this year has not been without its struggles. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine means that consequences are being felt nationally and globally. The shortage of steel means that our customers have experienced considerable supply chain issues, which has a knock-on effect on routine testing of manufactured products and components.
"We expect the steel shortage situation will ease in 2023, and we are readily prepared to support our customers with their testing needs as manufacturing and production processes begin to return to a form of normality.”
We always look forward to getting out on site and meeting our customers... we're excited to be able to continue meeting some familiar faces and support our customers with the testing that they need.”
What are we looking forward to in 2023?
John Cross says, " We always look forward to getting out on site and meeting our customers. Coronavirus restrictions meant that we weren't able to meet our customers, but we caught up on that in 2022 and we're excited to be able to continue meeting some familiar faces and support our customers with the testing that they need.”
We have been working hard on a successful UKAS audit in November, and we are currently waiting for sign-off on an extension to the scope on our UKAS schedule, including chemical analysis on cupronickel alloys.
We’re investing in our premises, so our laboratory is currently undergoing a makeover to improve the look and practicality of the building.
There are also a few sneaky things we’re looking forward to sharing with you, so watch this space!
Finally, we would like to wish our customers, suppliers, and colleagues a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
