Rail and Transportation
Safety is at the forefront of the rail and transportation industry. In 2019-20, over 16.6 billion tonnes of products, materials and resources were transported via freight trains throughout the UK, while 394 million passengers used commuter trains for their journeys, travelling over 1432 billion kilometres.
From freight trains and vehicles containing goods, to transporting passengers throughout the UK and globally, rail and transportation methods are a key element of our economy because they do what, so it is vital that comprehensive, unbiased testing is carried out throughout the supply chain to ensure that infrastructure, components and materials are safe and reliable.
Our experience with the rail industry has helped a variety of customers within the supply chain. We work with industrial companies including rail engineering and manufacturing, to train and locomotive repair services.
For construction developments of new railway networks, we collaborate with customers involved in railway operations, planning and consultancy.
Research and development projects for innovative, high-speed rail technologies means that regular product or material testing is essential.
